About Us

Debs Story,

Bowen Therapy History

Tom Bowen was born in Melbourne in 1916, in the 1950’s his natural healing ability led him to become a volunteer trainer with junior football clubs.

In the early 60’s he practiced as an Osteopath. By the mid 70’s Tom Bowen was giving 300 treatments per week, using the unique method developed by him, at his Geelong practice – as reported in the Fed Govt’s Webb Report on alternative therapies.

From the 1950s until his death in 1982, the acclaimed Australian therapist Tom BOWEN helped many thousands of people overcome their pains and conditions using a series of gentle, non-manipulative moves over muscle and connective tissue using nothing more than his thumbs and index fingers.

Bowen Therapy is an internationally recognised form of body work.

I first met Tom Bowen in Geelong when I was 10 yrs. old, I went along to him with my mum. Sadly, I can’t remember much about our visit other than there was a long line of people. It was 30 yrs. later that I had a Bowen Treatment from Milo Milosevic in Brisbane. This was life changing for myself and my husband as we both had back issues dragging us down. My husband described the treatment as smoke and mirrors as the out come of each treatment was profoundly amazing. We are still in touch with Milo 20 yrs. later.

I found out about Equine Bowen Therapy from another Therapist and was very keen to help my 4-legged friends. I completed both Bowen and Equine Bowen as they complement each other. No use treating the horse and not the rider and vice versa.

I have had a variety of businesses and jobs both in the city and the bush, I love dabbling in art, gardening and working with our horses. I have always loved working with people and being able to help people and animals in pain is very rewarding.

We now live just out of Warwick on 35 acres, we needed some space after coming from the bush. We breed Australian Cattle dogs and Jack Russell’s and have a few older stock horses from our time in the bush.

I am employed by Hope Horizons Cancer Wellness Centre in Toowoomba to do Oncology Massage for cancer clients in the Greater Warwick and Stanthorpe. This is a no out-of-pocket service to our clients, wholly provided by fundraising.
I volunteer the 2nd Thursday of each month to Bowen Therapy for a donation to Hope Horizons Cancer Wellness Centre in Toowoomba. This makes it affordable for underprivileged and aged clients to have a treatment.

I thoroughly enjoy meeting new clients, giving each person/animal the care, understanding, time and specialised treatment designed for each.
